WKOW named Wisconsin Station of the Year

WKOW team members are celebrating some big recognition over the weekend.

Quincy Media’s Madison-based ABC affiliate says “We are humbled to be named Station of the Year by The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.” The professional organization announced its annual awards Saturday night at ceremonies in Middleton. In addition, WKOW also won 16 other awards for broadcast excellence.

“We are honored to be recognized in this way by our state broadcast association,” said Tom Allen, Regional VP for Quincy Media and General Manager of WKOW. “It is a distinct pleasure to work alongside such a talented and hard working group of broadcast professionals.”

Wake Up Wisconsin took home Best Morning Newscast and the 27 News team won Best Continuing Coverage for their work covering Misty the dog.

Cealey Godwin won Best Sportscast and former photographer David Bartscher won Best Use of Sports Video for astory on pickleball.

WKOW.com and Internet Director Jacki Witkowski took home Best Breaking News Coverage for reporting on the Fitchburg home explosion.

Former reporter Gordon Severson won Best Live On-Scene Reporting.

WKOW also took home six second place awards.
